Twelve Days of Sweets - Day 4

I know I am running behind. Here is Day 4-pictures to come later. It really is no fun feeling sick during the holiday season-there are too many things to do and not enough time to squeeze it all in!

Today we are making Stained Glass Cookies!

These are some of my favorites, because they are so pretty! My boys love to help make these every year.

My new favorite sugar cookie recipe comes from Bridget over at Bake At 350. She has such beautiful cookies. I need to do some more diggin' and searchin' at her blog.....who knows what wonders await!

Just make the recipe as directed. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch in thickness.

Using a large cookie cutter, cut your initial shapes. Now with a smaller cookie cutter, cut out the center of the larger pieces. You don't have to use the same shape....mix it up! Use a larger circle cutter for the big part, and use a star for the center!

Place the cut-out on a sheet pan lined with parchment. Fill the center of the cookies with crushed candies. I typically use Jolly Ranchers, because the boys love the flavor and the colors are perfect for the holidays. You can use any hard candy you wish.

Bake at 350 until the cookie starts to turn golden brown and the candy centers have melted.

If you want a cute display, before you bake them, make a small hole at the top of each one. After baking and cooling, string a small ribbon through the hole. Now you can hang them on a tree!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Got to feel better,
Crystal
